The Great Gatsby

"The Great Gatsby" is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, published in 1925. Centered in the United States Of America's "Jazz Era", in the 1920's, the novel follows Nick Carraway, a man who recently graduated from college and fought in World War I. He moves from the Midwest to the East to begin a carrer, and rents a house next to the mansion of a mysterious man named Jay Gatsby, who often hosts big and extravagant parties whose guests do not even know who Gatsby is. As the narrative progresses, Nick starts unveiling Gatsby's identity and his past as well, only to discover a man who is the personification of the "American Dream".
The Novel was highly praised, and is now regarded as a literature classic. It also had a cinematic adaptation in 1974, but there will be a new one this year, set to be released in December 25. Meanwhile, I'll leave you the trailer:

"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter--tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther.... And one fine morning-- So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."
- F. Scott Fitzgerald, "The Great Gatsby", Chapter 9.
